Shoshana made aliyah from Turkey at age 12 and is married. Her husband suffers from high blood pressure and has difficulty walking. Even though Shoshana had hip surgery she still must travel on foot from her neighborhood in Jaffa to Yahadut Buchara in South Tel Aviv, when she is feeling well enough and hopefully gets there once a week.
Her husband, who is now retired, worked for the City of Tel Aviv. They now live off just $925.00 per month, of which half goes for rent.
Shoshana, who did not want to be photographed, has not bought herself a new article of clothing or shoes in over ten years. Recently she received a gift of a new pair of tennis shoes and she showed them off with pride. Food is so basic a human need. Your prayerful and financial support makes an immediate and tangible difference in the lives of Israelis just like Shoshana.
